Global Fee
The global fee feature allows you to automatically add a flat or percentage-based fee to every invoice generated in Full Out. Common uses of the fees include Admin Fees or Facility Fees.
Note that payment processing fees are calculated on the updated invoice total, not the original amount. You are responsible for ensuring your payment settings and fee practices comply with all applicable payment processing and consumer protection regulations.
For example, a global fee of 3% on a $100 invoice will increase the total of the invoice to $103. The processing fees would be calculated on the total of $103.
If you choose to enable a global fee, we recommend updating your checkout copy and posted policies to reflect your billing practices.
How to Set Up
- From the admin dashboard, go to Settings > Invoices > Global Fee
- Configure the settings
- Select the category that will display as the fee name on the invoices. We recommend using a unique category for reporting purposes. Taxable billing categories are not eligible for use as a global fee.
- The amount can either be a flat amount or a percentage of the total invoice.
- Save the changes
Waive A Global Fee
Admins can waive the global fee on a per-invoice basis. To do so:
- Go to the individual invoice
- Hit the More button and waive the fee
This will go in the invoice history and can also be undone. When you enable a global fee in your settings, your previously created invoices will not have the global fee automatically applied. However you can retroactively add it to previous invoices once the feature is enabled.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use a taxable billing category for the global fee?
No. The global fee is the last item added to the invoice amount, meaning it calculates after your taxes. If we have taxes on this category, it would create problems.
Will the fee apply to invoices I've already created?
No. The global fee only applies to invoices created after the feature is turned on.
What if I want to waive the fee for a specific member?
You can waive the fee on any individual invoice, but you can not turn it off for a family all together.
Can I have more than one global fee active at a time?
Currently, only one global fee can be configured and active at a time.
How does the global fee interact with payment processing fees?
Payment processing fees are calculated on the total invoice amount, including any global fee. This is not intended to be a replacement for payment processing and is recorded as revenue for your business.
Is this the same as the surcharge feature?
No. The surcharge feature is a separate tool with specific legal requirements and card-type restrictions. The global fee is a flexible, general-purpose fee up to individual businesses to apply. It will apply to all invoices regardless of payment method. Please ensure the use of your global fee complies with your membership agreements and applicable regulations.
